Moira Kelly

Moira Kelly is a visual artist based in Troy, NY. Kelly’s artistic practice primarily involves oil painting on canvas, complemented by digital manipulation and collage. Her journey as an artist began at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY, where she spent two years studying drawing and painting. This foundation paved the way for her studies at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2023. At Pratt, Moira embraced a more conceptual approach to painting, ultimately developing an affinity for the materiality of paint and the philosophical inquiries that now drive her work.

Moira is inspired by themes often explored in quantum physics, such as the overlap of multiple dimensions and the non-linear nature of time. Her pieces reflect a fascination with these complex ideas, merging them with a personal exploration of consciousness and memory. Her work has been showcased at venues including, Greenpoint Gallery in Brooklyn, Pratt Institute, and the Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy, NY.

Currently, Moira is a member of the newly founded Upstairs Art Collective in downtown Troy, where she maintains her studio. She is also an artist-in-residence at Arts Letters & Numbers in Averill Park, NY, where she has been developing a new series of paintings. Her contributions to the arts have been recognized with several awards, including the Pratt Presidential Merit Scholarship and the Burrel and Frances Craver Scholarship Award, an honor she received as the sole recipient at Pratt Institute during her thesis year.
